Testing for belt promotion is an exciting time! You may feel nervous, you may be scared, but overcoming those feelings is a huge part of what separates a black belt from a white belt.   Trust in your preparation and use this experience as an opportunity to show off the skills you have learned as well as to recognize that you may still have a long way to go.

Will every student test every time? Probably not, but that's OK.  Participating in promotion testing is not a right, it's a privilege. Sometimes a student may just not be ready to advance. Other times, family situations or weather conditions may arise that don't permit attending the testing ceremony. We will do our best to ensure students are always making progress.

As with learning anything new, everyone does it a little differently and at their own pace. An ancient proverb states, "A journey of 10,000 miles begins with but one step" and another states, "It doesn't matter how slowly you go, as long as you don't stop". Keep those sayings in mind as you practice this art - it is truly a journey.

YOUR goal in practicing Taekwondo may be focused on the color of your belt; However, MY goal in teaching Taekwondo is not. My goal is that everyone I teach becomes a good citizen, empowered, and confident.  It is your self-discipline and self-confidence, along with your taekwondo skills, that I hope to help you develop.  If your only goal is to have a black belt, let me know - I'll order you one.
